Born in 1955 and the son of Jicarilla Apache artist, Carl Vicenti. Carson Vicenti began exhibiting his paintings in the early 1970s as a youth during his father's heyday years. Carson continued developing his scholastic and artistic abilities at Oregon State University (1973-1978). Here he studied painting and influence under expressionist artist Demetrios Jameson. Vicenti also developed an interest in philosophy, anthropology, and linguistics. Vicenti pursued graduate studies in linguistics at the University of Colorado (1980-1981). Returning to the Jicarilla Apache Reservation in 1981 and living there until 2019, currently living in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Vicenti has served as a tribal legislator for two terms and as a teacher for 13 years. He taught Native American Studies, Native American Literature, US History, English, and Art.
